Tuskegee Experiment

Category: Event

An experiment conducted by the U.S. Public Health Service from 1932 through 1972 in which enrolled several hundred Black men who had syphilis yet failed to treatment. Not only did some of the men die from the disease, some infected their wives and passed it on to their children. The experiment is a blemish on American history because a cure for syphilis had become available in the 1940s.
